Wine boxes – you can go to any wine store in Hong Kong and ask them to give you their used wooden wine cases. They’re free, beautiful and stack wonderfully for multiple uses around the home. In Hong Kong they’re a great option because of the practicality, price, and personality that they can imbue, especially when combined with various art works and other items.
NOTE : Stacked on top of each other, these warm wooden wine crates make wonderful book shelves and display units. As storage they are hardy and rustic and for pets they make a charming bed. If used as planters they should be lined extremely well and kept exclusively outdoors. With ikea wall brackets or a colorful patterned material attached inside, there’s really as many uses as you can imagine!
Once you have an idea in mind, find a place to collect your crates, (thank the wine shop for their generosity), softly sand/roughly scrub down the box to ensure that it’s smooth and splinter free, and you’re ready to construct your fabulous furniture, free of cost and immediately useable.
